The Shape Of Your Face
- Songwriter:

A song about meeting someone you find attractive but not because they are magazine-ready. Rather, because they are unique and strong. For interest, this person is also a bit unapproachable.
Lyrics
This afternoon I saw a lady She was standing there Staring around, looking crazy So I said to her, I said “What do you know?” She turned to face me, she said “My boy, wouldn’t you like to know? “Be sure you know what you are asking for Cause you may get it my dear! If you had yourself any common sense You’d go and disappear!” Cause she’s that girl you never knew That tore your heart in two my dear And she’s that drug you never use That you’re addicted to my dear I’m intrigued by the shape of your face I’m intrigued by the shape of your face, and I’m intrigued by the shape of your face, and I’ve got something to say Your eyes look way out of place, oh boy you look good to me We really need to leave this place. Why not spend the evening with me? I’m intrigued by the shape of your face, and your eyes This afternoon I left that lady She’s still standing there Looking around, still acting crazy I’d wanted to know her But she scared me away Now I know better than to chase a girl who’s got too much to say! I’m intrigued by the shape of your face, and your eyes Who do you want to hold you close? To hold you? You don't have to go...
Recording Notes
This one was fun. I have always played the song up until the second chorus of this recording, and then just stopped there. In the recording process I improvised the guitar ending on a whim, and decided to stick with it. That led to the falsetto harmonies too.
I could see adding more to this song too. I suppose the arguments are piling up for re-recording the entire album one day.
