No Crown
A song about thinking too hard about issues I will never be able to resolve. Too concerned about justice in issues out of my scope.
I guess my subconscious is trying to sell the idea of Stoicism to me.
The second half of the song has a story about befriending the Devil. Like really being there for him.
Lyrics
Solving the problems of the world on a throne with no crown Hanging my halo on a ray of silver sound it goes down No, I’d better not know My father, your mother! The mental universe in the womb Matter, illusion, but I swear it is real, because I feel No, I’d better not know On and on I dream as I conceive, swear it is real Swear it is real because I feel, because I feel I sang and I sang and I sang at the Devil I’ve got a sentimental heart, and I think we should level You see he never stood a chance because he stayed on his throne All his wide-eyed evil left him all alone So I called him out, I said, “What’s happening bro?” He said, “How’d you know?” I said, “Let’s hit the road.” We went dancing all night and everything was alright We screamed, “Whoop Whoop Woo!” to the wild night And then I took him home, back to the depths of hell I said, “I know that you’re Satan, but I think you mean well You’ve got to try to relax, you’ve got to let things go And if you need someone to talk to, just call me bro.”
Recording Notes
I had some creative fun recording this song. There are hand drums. They are not excellent, but I stand by the claim that they are fun.
I very much enjoy the role that the bass took on in this song. It is a major character in the mix.
In this song, I found my love for doubling vocals such that one track has a heavy use of the Leslie effect.
Definitely a song that could benefit from better drums and production skills.
At the end, everything dissolves into an echo-laden chaos. I like that effect.
