An ode to the bravery of the little fuzzy spiders that stand up to you. I know humans fear spiders, and there is logic to that which I won't criticize. However, adopt the perspective of the spider who doesn't back down when approached by the giant human, but rather raises its legs to look bigger and moves forward! That is the spirit I am celebrating in this song. The spider might die, but all that bravery gives pause, even to giants.

Lyrics

Act like a spider
Throw your legs in the air
Wave them around
Like you just don’t care
You can scare off the giants
If you act like you’re not scared

But you might die

Man look at the size of that spider!
Oh shit man!
Why don’t you see if it’ll hold you up?
It’s fucking huge!
Shit, man, that’s crazy!
I don’t even think it’s scared.

Live in a vacuum
Lie awake, unaware
Walk like a zombie
Never tasting the air
You can try to sleep hard
But when you wake up
You’re still there

But you might die

Recording Notes

I was going for a Smashing Pumpkins vibe on the guitars. I'm not sure I pulled it off, but that made for a fun direction to take things. I suppose it would need a different chorus to truly fit that vibe, but by the time I got past writing the first verse I knew the story wanted the song to go where it landed, and so I abandoned the original plan for the song's sake.
